Chris ‘Kato’ Ju is a Korean-American Music Producer/Entrepreneur out of Atlanta, GA. As a self-taught musician from an early age, Chris started rapping and making beats in 2006 as a college freshman. He quickly got recognized amongst peers and other local Atlanta Artists like Jarren Benton.

Eventually putting the rap aside to focus solely on production, Kato started collaborating with Jarren and together they caught the attention of Los Angeles based independent label, Funk Volume, founded by a then rising rapper, Hopsin.

In 2012, Jarren signed a record deal with Funk Volume, shortly followed by Kato’s signing as an in-house Producer in 2013.  Within years, the label signed more Artists including Dizzy Wright, and with the help of Kato’s production, launched into one of the most successful independent hip-hop labels in the US until internal turmoil within the label forced it’s public dismemberment in 2016.

Shortly after, Kato founded an online Producer mentorship program called Beat Club, which went through a brief partnership with online music education platform, Music Entrepreneur Club, co-founded by Dame Ritter and DJ Pain 1.

After leaving the MEC in 2019, Kato self-funded a 10-city tour called Sound Advice where he traveled around the country to speak with aspiring music creatives in private music studios about the modern music industry, while providing insightful feedback on music. It was an instant success and further expanded into a 33-city sold out tour across the US, Canada and UK.

In October of 2020, Kato found massive viral success on TikTok from a beat he had shared, which went on to become the wildly popular "So Pretty" (challenge) featuring 18-year old Australian, Reyanna Maria. Rapper, Tyga later joined on the remix. "So Pretty" reached the Top 5 most viral songs in the world, with over 5 million user-generated videos across social media.

Kato has since produced for a long list of successful Artists, including Grammy-Nominated, Multi-Platinum Artists like Tyga, Joyner Lucas, B.o.B, K Camp, Tory Lanez, Snoop Dogg, E-40, Trouble, Jay Park, Masta Killa and Inspectah Deck of Wu-Tang Clan, and many more.
